SUNRISE, Fla. — Sergei Bobrovsky on Monday moved into sole possession for ninth-most wins by a goaltender in NHL history despite an uncharacteristic outing in which he allowed five goals on just 15 shots against.

His performance on Thursday was much more to his standard — and more importantly led to another Florida Panthers win.

Bobrovsky stopped all 30 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season in the Panthers’ 1-0 win over the New Jersey Devils at Amerant Bank Arena.

Florida improved to 11-8-1. New Jersey fell to 13-6-1.

Sam Reinhart’s first-period goal — a beaut of a shot as he muscled his way past New Jersey’s Luke Hughes to get a wrist shot past goaltender Jake Allen with 7:02 left in the frame — gave Bobrovsky all the support he would need. The goal was Reinhart’s 11th of the season and his nine in the past 12 games.

The win is Bobrovsky’s 10th of the season, making him the third goaltender in the NHL to hit the double-digit win mark on the campaign along with Colorado’s Scott Wedgewood (11 wins entering Thursday) and Anaheim’s Lukas Dostal (10).

He is one of two goaltenders with multiple shutouts — Minnesota’s Jesper Wallstedt is the other.

A debut and a milestone celebration

Pregame at Amerant Bank Arena on Thursday featured one player taking his rookie lap and another getting his silver stick commemorating his 1,000th career game.

Forward Jack Devine made his NHL debut, playing right wing on Florida’s fourth line with Noah Gregor and Luke Kunin, while defenseman Jeff Petry was recognized for his 1,000 games played after hitting that milestone in the Panthers’ 8-5 win over Vancouver on Monday.

Marchand point streak ends

Panthers forward Brad Marchand saw his point streak end at 11 games.

Marchand had 17 points (10 goals, seven assists) in that span.

Florida caps its five-game homestand on Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers in the first matchup between the teams since the Panthers won their second consecutive Stanley Cup.
