TAMPA, Fla. — The wait is over for the Sanders family.

It took five long rounds of the NFL draft before Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was finally taken by the Browns on Saturday.

His brother, Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders, waited even longer than that.

Shilo is signing with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent.

Shilo has a decent chance to make the Tampa Bay roster. In 2024, he had 67 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Shilo began his career at South Carolina and then transferred to Jackson State and Colorado to play for his dad, Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive back Deion Sanders.

The Bucs have a need at safety. They plan to move defensive back Tykee Smith there to team with Antoine Winfield Jr. But they wound up releasing safety Jordan Whitehead after he landed on the non-football injury list following an accident on the eve of the NFC wild-card game against Washington.

Another notable undrafted free agent the Bucs plan to sign? Florida 6-foot-6, 464-pound defensive tackle Desmond Watson, also an Armwood High alumnus.

Watson finished with 63 tackles in 51 games for the Gators, with 1.5 sacks, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
