Before starting his popular political column for the New York Observer, Joe Conason worked as editor-at-large for Conde Nast's Details magazine. He has covered many world events in his role as investigative reporter, including the Tiananmen Square massacre and the "Swift-Boat Veterans for Truth" campaign. He also co-produced the 2004 documentary "The Hunting of the President," based on his book of the same title.

Conason's column has run in the New York Observer since 1992, and he also writes a popular column for Salon.com. He has also been published in the Guardian, the New Yorker, and Harper's, among others. His work has earned him the New York Press Club's Byline Award.
