Gadgets: Soundbar for the win!
Published in Science & Technology News
In a matter of minutes, the whole atmosphere for my Sunday afternoon football watching turned for the better. That's what I got with the OXS SoundBar S21 sound system. And I’ll add a line I say often about soundbars: It is one of the most underrated accessories. Once you get one, you’ll understand.
The AC-powered OXS S21 2.1 Channel Soundbar features two 9731 Racetrack full-range drivers and a wired subwoofer with a 5.25-inch BassMax woofer inside. Combined, they bring 240W of powerful, precision-tuned audio. Instantly, audio from any TV show, movie, sporting event or game is enhanced to deliver crystal-clear sound with the right amount of bass.
Setup is essentially plug-and-play. The ultra-slim and compact soundbar (15.75 by 1.65 by 3.46 inches) features a mesh front with volume-level lights. Input ports are on the back and include HDMI (TV ARC), optical, USB-A, and a 3.5 mm auxiliary jack. For wall mounting, an HDMI right-angle adapter is included. If your TV supports Bluetooth (V5.3), that’s an option for a wireless connection.
Along with the improved sound quality, the volume is significantly louder, reaching 90 dB. There are three modes, with my choice of Movie Mode to enhance dialogue clarity. The Game Mode will give you directional audio for a competitive advantage. And the Music Mode balances mids and highs for vibrant, crystal-clear playback.
Wall mount the soundbar right under the TV for space saving, or have it sit right under the TV on a shelf or any flat surface -- it's your choice. The wired subwoofer (4.53 by 11.42 by 9.84 inches) connects to the soundbar and can sit below or off to the side.
A power adapter, remote control and connection cables are included.

OpenRock’s new Link 20 open-ear hybrid headset has a big advantage over competitors thanks to its first-of-its-kind magnetic, detachable, interchangeable boom mic. As the press release introducing the headset stated, it is designed to merge professional-grade communication with lifestyle convenience. With its magnetic design, you can put it on or take it off instantly.
The 2.79-inch boom mic features a 5-mic array with custom-tuned AI ENC technology for crystal-clear communication. Each lightweight, open-ear-designed earbud can hold the boom mic for flexibility. They are constructed with N54 magnets protected by MagShield FusionTech and a six-layer noble-metal plating, enabling them to withstand over 10,000 attach-detach cycles.
As for the sound performance, they are great. Each ear has a powerful 30 mW speaker to deliver clear, crisp sound. For comfort, they feature a 6.9-degree ergonomic tilt that supports all-day use. With Bluetooth 6.0 dual-device connectivity, multiple sources can be connected.
The earbuds are IPX7 sweat- and dust-resistant, and the magnetic mic is IP55-rated. The OpenRock companion app will assist in customization, including three dedicated sound modes (entertainment, sport, and meeting).
And if all that is not impressive enough, how about up to 52 hours of battery life with the included charging/storage case. The storage case has a “find device” feature that broadcasts a sound to help locate the Link 20s if they are misplaced.
