How to Save on Big-Ticket Items Like TVs and Appliances

on

Published in The Bargain Hunters Playbook

Big-ticket items like TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines are some of the most expensive purchases you’ll make for your home. The good news is that with a little patience and smart shopping, you can save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on these major buys.

First, timing is everything. The best times to buy appliances are typically around major holiday weekends like Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Black Friday. This is when retailers are eager to clear out older models to make room for new inventory. January is also a great time for deals on large electronics, as stores try to clear out stock after the holiday rush.

Don’t overlook open-box and refurbished models, either. Many retailers, including Best Buy, Amazon, and Walmart, offer steep discounts on returned or gently used items. These products are often just as good as new, with full warranties and significantly lower price tags.

Price matching can also be a powerful tool. Many stores will match a competitor’s price if you find a lower one, even after your purchase. This means you can buy with confidence, knowing you got the best possible deal.

Finally, don’t forget about online marketplaces like eBay and Craigslist for gently used items. Just be sure to verify the seller’s reputation and check the item in person if possible.

With a little planning and patience, you can get top-tier electronics and appliances without breaking the bank.
