DETROIT — The Red Wings gave the fans at Little Caesars Arena something to cheer about in the home finale for this season.

Goals from Jonatan Berggren, Moritz Seider (power play) and Lucas Raymond in the third period rallied the Wings to a 6-4 victory over the Dallas Stars.

Goaltender Cam Talbot stopped 25 shots and Raymond, Seider and Dylan Larkin each had two assists, as the Wings closed out their home schedule in winning fashion.

The Wings (38-35-7) were eliminated from playoff contention Saturday. It's the ninth consecutive season the Wings have missed the playoffs, the fourth longest streak in the NHL.

But there was no quit in the Wings, no "mailing it in," as they came out roaring in the third period for a comeback win.

Dallas closed the gap to 5-4 on Wyatt Johnston's 33rd goal at 12 minutes 56 seconds of the third period. But the Wings killed a late Dallas power play and Vladimir Tarasenko's 11th goal, an empty net goal, salted the victory.

Albert Johansson (third goal) and Alex DeBrincat (team-leading 37th) opened the Wings' scoring.

Dallas erased a 2-1 Wings' lead with two goals midway in the second period.

Evgenii Dadonov scored his 20th goal on a redirect at 9:00 and Colin Blackwell gave the Stars a 3-2 lead with a shorthanded goal at 11:06, Blackwell's sixth goal.

But Berggren, playing on a line with Larkin and Raymond, one-timed a pass from Raymond 1:15 into the third period, and Seider put the Wings ahead for good with his eighth goal on a point shot from the power play at 4:19.

Raymond made it 5-3 with his 27th goal, at 9:49, off the rush.

Jamie Benn had the first Dallas goal, his 17th goal and 400th of his career.

Being it was the home finale, there was a melancholy feeling around Little Caesars Arena of another season with no playoffs and the fact the post-season looked possible even in February when the NHL took a two-week break for the 4-Nations Tournament.

But the Wings slumped dramatically once the NHL resumed its schedule.

"We were in good position, and to drop out of it, there's no excuses," DeBrincat said. "We just didn't play well enough throughout that stretch and it really cost us. It's frustrating. To go year to year and being in it and just not do good enough to get in, it's definitely frustrating.

"To think about being so close, the two years I've been here and especially being in a good spot at the 4-Nations break this year and kind of blowing it."

The Wings finish the regular season with road games Wednesday in New Jersey and Thursday in Toronto.

"We hope to get some good habits, play well these last three games to get something to build off for next season," DeBrincat said. "There's a lot more reflecting to do after the season.

DeBrincat was set up by Patrick Kane off a rush, Kane's 850th career assist in his 1,300th career game.

"I'm glad I'm coaching him and not against him," said coach Todd McLellan after the morning skate. "Where do you start? Thirteen hundred games, three Stanley Cups, every international event you can think of. Think of the records as U.S. born individual. But records in the NHL too, he's pushing his way up there, so that covers everything.

"Get to game 1,300 and the same amount of passion and drive for the game now, he probably had in Game 13. Maybe more. He believes he can have an impact on the game nightly and quite often he does.

"It's remarkable."

McLellan felt it was important to close out on a positive note at LCA.

"I know how they feel, I know what they want, and we failed to deliver that and we have to live with that again," McLellan said. "We have to make it better next year. They are Detroit fans, and I've talked about it, there's a distinct passion, not just for the Wings but for all the teams in the community. It's a sports town and they appreciate effort, and they want a winner.

"We can't give them the second thing, so let's give them the first thing."
