Buccaneers sign tackle Luke Goedeke to 4-year contract extension

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers locked up a bookend offensive tackle to protect Baker Mayfield.
Luke Goedeke, a second-round pick in the 2022 draft from Central Michigan, agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Bucs Tuesday evening.
Terms of the deal were not released, but it exceeds the two-year deal signed by Carolina right tackle Taylor Moton that averages $22 million a year.
ESPN reported that the extension is worth $90 million, with $50 million guaranteed.
Goedeke was set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
Goedeke began his NFL career at guard as a rookie but emerged as one of the top right tackles in the NFC. He took over from Tristan Wirfs when Wirfs moved from right to left tackle.
Goedeke missed four games with a concussion last season but reestablished himself as a fierce blocker.
The Bucs rose from last in the NFL in rushing the previous two seasons to fourth last year.
A year ago, the Bucs reached a five-year, $140.63 million extension with Wirfs, the first player to become an All-Pro at both tackle spots.
The Bucs now may turn their attention to cornerback Zyon McCollum, who also is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
