Pistons' 23-point comeback falls short in season-opening loss to Bulls
Published in Basketball
CHICAGO — The Detroit Pistons spent much of Wednesday night appearing distant from the team that achieved one of the most remarkable one-year turnarounds in league history last season. However, in the fourth quarter, the Pistons relied on one trait that had been a key part of their success: resiliency.
The Pistons trailed by as many as 23 points but never wavered in their first game of the 2025-26 season, which ended in a 115-111 loss to the Chicago Bulls.
Ron Holland came up huge for the Pistons, finishing with 19 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Isaiah Stewart added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Cade Cunningham had a subpar night, finishing with 23 points on 8-of-23 shooting, 10 assists and seven rebounds.
