(UPI) A cat who went missing during a camping trip in Yellowstone National Park turned up 60 days later on the streets of a California town more than 800 miles away.

Benny and Susanne Anguiano of Salinas, Calif., said they often take their cats with them on camping trips, but during a June trip to Yellowstone National Park one of their pets, named Rayne Beau, was spooked and ran off into the trees.

The couple said they spent days searching for the feline, but eventually had to go home without him.

The Anguianos received a message 60 days later from Pet Watch, revealing Rayne Beau was at the Placer SPCA in Roseville, Calif. -- more than 800 miles from where he had vanished.

The SPCA said the cat had been brought in by a woman who found him wandering loose in the streets of Roseville.

The couple said they do not know how Rayne Beau managed to travel so far, but they are hoping someone will come forward with a story.

They said their reunion with their pet highlights the importance of having pets microchipped.
