Auto review: 2025 GMC Sierra deserves luxury truck accolades
Published in Automotive News
With the pickup market improving in terms of both consumer utility and exterior aesthetics, one of the sticking points is price. This week in Grasso’s Garage we consider the 2025 Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate. While GMC’s parent company, General Motors, has done a fantastic job with recent releases, this truck is one outstanding machine. It's near and dear to us at Grasso’s Garage, as many members of the family currently own a GMC.
The 2025 Sierra Denali Ultimate is eye-catching, comfortable and spacious, while still having the attributes of a standard half-ton pickup, but the addition of the Denali Ultimate is the wow factor. Powered by a 6.2-liter ECOTEC3 V-8 engine, and with recent elimination of the 5.3-liter engine, the fuel drinking Sierra gets decent mileage, but it will be no stranger to the gas station. With a base price north of $80K, the Denali Ultimate comes in significantly more expensive than other Sierra models, but it includes a slew of standard and upgrade features deserving of the price.
Our Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate tester in Sterling metallic paint came standard with 16-way power massaging seats, Super Cruise — GM’s autonomous driving system, with the best technology in the market today — full-grain leather seats, HD Surround Vision a 12-speaker Bose Premium stereos, heads-up display and power sunroof.
Ready to work or ready to drive, the Sierra 1500 has the appeal truck consumers demand, while the added Denali Ultimate package brings that added chrome accents that really make the truck stand out over the F-150 Platinum and Chevrolet Silverado ZL2. With a towing capacity of 13,200, throw your camper or work trailer on the back and go. Its that easy as the Sierra’s towing ability delivers a smooth and comfortable ride for all passengers.
GMC will always have a place in Grasso’s Garage, and among full-size pickups there isn’t anything better. The Sierra class is outstanding and one that does the job, looks great, produces plenty of power, provides the capabilities and space consumers demand, while the standard features are just what drivers demand. Although sticker shock is a consideration, the GMC Sierra pickup is the ultimate usable machine.
