Last Day of the Dragon

Holiday Mathis on

As the Year of the Dragon exhales its final ember, we find ourselves beneath the mystical glow of three conjunctions. Honor the fire-breathing spirit that has propelled us forward with daring dreams and unrelenting courage. The dragon, a symbol of transformation and power, leaves behind a trail of luminous scales, a reminder of the ways we've ignited our passions and burned away what no longer serves.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You don't often get to pick your challenges in this lifetime, so when you do have this luxury, as you will in the days to come, pick one that interests you deeply and has just the right size for full engagement.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). As you seek knowledge, you will find the access to information is the easy part, but organization and application will be more involved. It's the hands-on experience that will propel you forward.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You've a thoughtful and reflective nature, so even when you make mistakes, you work through them and learn from them. That's more than many people ever manage. Credit yourself, knowing you've weathered a full range of experiences and deserve to celebrate your wins.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You've been of service, but you can't do everything. Take time for yourself, or you won't have much to give. Let others carry the weight of their own frustrations. You don't need to justify why you're not accommodating their every wish.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). The idealized version of a relationship fades into reality. People are complex, and relationships evolve when you allow for their imperfections. Growth often comes from embracing the real, messy truth.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). As it stands, the situation is not a fit. Your options are to turn it into something custom-suited to you or turn it loose. Essentially, you'll either spend time making this work or spend time finding something else that works better.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You'll seize the chance to clean up what is, technically, not your mess. It's like you're acting in accordance with some higher calling. When you're one with the world, responsibility is somewhat irrelevant.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You've a heap of charm to apply to an opportunity for making a lasting impression. The ones you find interesting will respond in kind. This could be the start of something mutually beneficial, if not downright magical.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). When you hear the smoke alarm, you argue with it, cry or ponder its inner workings. Your intuition will make a beeping sound, and you'll treat it the same way you would a smoke alarm -- find the trouble source and put it out.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You can only deviate from the plan if you have a plan to begin with. You like to fly by the seat of your instinct, but your instincts are strongest when they have an agenda to bounce off of. This is the birth of your new methods.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You are your most important project. Shifting your focus inward -- from supporting others to nurturing your own work -- is key to claiming the space you deserve. Today, you'll protect your "you time" as sacred, no exceptions.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). People trust you. You keep your word even when it's inconvenient to do so. For all the big and small ways you've come through for others, including promises fulfilled, invoices paid, goals hit and more, you will be rewarded.

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Jan. 28). It's a year of finding more things to appreciate about yourself and your wonderful life. All that you possess -- features, talents and flaws alike -- are strengths in the right context, with the right people. Part of the journey will be about curating your audience well. More highlights: Winning teams, fantastic work/life balance and being someone's superstar. Taurus and Gemini adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 21, 1, 18, 6 and 40.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: In his "Clear+Vivid" podcast, Alan Alda explores the art and science of communication with guests ranging from scientists to entertainers, underscoring Alda's dedication to fostering understanding and connection. The multifaceted Aquarian actor, author, director and philanthropist recently received a lifetime achievement award from the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, honoring his contributions to entertainment, education and science communication.
