Another Golden Oldie. Every player of the White pieces dreams of a sacrificial attack against the Sicilian Defense. Over 60 years ago Troinov got his chance. Here’s the game. 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6 6.Bc4 e6 7.0–0 Be7 8.Be3 0–0 9.Bb3 a6 10.f4 d5 11.e5 Nd7 12.Qh5 Re8?? At this point Black should have played 12...Qe8, but he didn’t suspect what was coming. Can you? SEE DIAGRAM


13.Nxd5!! exd5 14.Qxf7+!! Kxf7 15.Bxd5+ Kg6 15...Kf8 16.Ne6+ Kg8 17.Nxd8+ Kh8 18.Nf7+ Kg8 19.Nd6+ Kf8 20.Nxe8 and White is the exchange and a couple of pawns up. Easy win. 16.f5+ Kh5 17.Bf3+ Kh4 18.g3+ A bit faster was 18.Ne6 Qa5 19.Bf2# 18...Kh3 19.Bg2+ Kg4 20.Rf4+ Black Resigned.
