Weezer announces 'The Gathering' tour
Published in Entertainment News
DETROIT — Say it is so: Weezer will perform at Little Caesars Arena on Sept. 23, promoters announced Thursday.
Tickets for the show, part of the band's 32-city "The Gathering" tour — see the full routing below — go on sale at 10 a.m. April 3 via Ticketmaster. Various presales (for Citi, Verizon, Mastercard, American Express, and members of Weezer's fan club) start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The Shins and Silversun Pickups will open the show, which was teased on Little Caesars Arena's social channels earlier this week.
Weezer will release a new single, "Shine Again," on Wednesday, according to a tour press release.
The tour is not celebrating any album anniversaries per se, but it comes on the 30th anniversary of the band's album "Pinkerton," the 25th anniversary of the band's second self-titled album (known as "The Green Album"), the 10-year anniversary of the band's fourth self-titled album (known as "The White Album"), and the 5-year anniversaries of both "OK Human" and "Van Weezer."
Weezer's last area concert was in June 2023 at Pine Knob Music Theatre.
