Teyana Taylor is reflecting on her journey after her big win at the 2026 Golden Globes on Sunday.

“I’m just like in awe,” Taylor told Daily News backstage shortly following her acceptance speech.

After winning Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role, the “One Battle After Another” actress reflected on the twists and turns of her career that brought her to this moment.

“Honestly, if everything would have happened my way and on my time, I don’t even know if I would be standing up here.”

The multi-hyphenate first rose to fame as a singer, dancer and choreographer before shocking fans in 2020 when she announced her retirement from music due to feeling “underappreciated as an artist.”

She soon returned to the spotlight with a pivot into dramatic acting. The move marked a new chapter of her career, one she says ultimately led her to “something bigger.”

“I think trusting God’s timing and him saying ‘OK,hold on. I understand this is what you wanted, but this is what I got planned for you,’ Taylor told The News. “He had something bigger planned for me and I’m so happy that I stayed patient.”

In 2025, Taylor found music calling her again and returned with the release of “Escape Room” in August. The 22-track visual album earned Taylor her first Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album.

“Even just being a part of the conversation, being in these rooms and celebrated and being acknowledged means the world to me,” she told The News adding, “I’m filled with so much gratitude and I don’t take this for granted.”

In “One Battle After Another,” Taylor plays Perfidia, a revolutionary who has a child with a fellow vigilante, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

The film has already won numerous awards, including 4 Golden Globes and 3 Critics Choice awards.
