Music world mourns Poorstacy's death as police confirm 'incident'

NEW YORK — The City of Boca Raton Police Services Department confirmed Tuesday that Carlito Milfort — better known as rapper Poorstacy — “passed away, stemming from an incident that occurred at 2899 N. Federal Hwy” on Saturday.
A Quality Inn hotel is located at that Florida address.
TMZ reported Monday that the 26-year-old performer is believed to have died by suicide in a Boca Raton hotel where he’d been staying for about 10 days. Authorities didn’t confirm an official a cause of death.
Poorstacy was reportedly staying at the hotel with a woman and a toddler when he was rushed to an area hospital for a medical emergency. No one else was reported injured.
Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, who recorded the songs “Choose Life” and “Nothing Left” with Poorstacy in 2022, paid tribute to his former collaborator Monday night.
“Rest in peace you’ll never be forgotten,” Barker posted on Instagram with a video of the pair performing.
Bring Me the Horizon singer Oli Sykes also honored Poorstacy on Instagram, where he posted a photo of them together with the caption “R.I.P.” and a black heart emoji.
Poorstacy was described as Sykes’ protege in a December 2022 Revolver interview with the “emo-core eccentric” who spent the first decade of his life between Brooklyn and Queens.
Poorstacy recalled Sykes’ first words to him being “You look like a f–ing mad man.”
The pair became friends, worked together on Poorstacy’s 2021 single “Knife Party” and toured together in 2022.
