CBS sets release date for new 'Yellowstone' spinoff centered on Kayce Dutton

FORT WORTH, Texas — CBS has set a release date for its new “Yellowstone” spinoff.
“Y: Marshals” will premiere in the 8-9 p.m. time slot on March 1, 2026, the company announced Monday, Nov. 17. The show’s first season will consist of 13 episodes that will air over consecutive Sundays.
The new series sees Luke Grimes reprise his role as Kayce Dutton after the events of “Yellowstone.”
“With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. Kayce and his teammates – Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means) – must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate (Brecken Merrill) and his confidantes Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) from the Broken Rock reservation,” the show’s synopsis reads.

[Editor’s note: Spoilers for “Yellowstone” Season 5 below.]
CBS announced “Y: Marshals” in May, nearly five months after the “Yellowstone” Season 5 finale.
In that episode, Kayce sold most of his family ranch to Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) for a fraction of the price. Kayce was able to keep East Camp and is last seen working cattle with his wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and son Tate (Brecken Merrill) on the property.
It’s unclear how long “Y: Marshals” is set after “Yellowstone,” but there are a few returning faces for the new series.
Brecken Merrill will return as Kayce’s son Tate, in addition to Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater and Mo Brings Plenty as Mo. There has been no word on if Kelsey Asbille will reprise her role as Monica in the new show.
Several of the executive producers behind “Yellowstone” are also back on board for “Y: Marshals,” including Taylor Sheridan, David Glasser, Art Linson and John Linson.
Spencer Hudnut serves as showrunner and executive producer on the show.
