Padma Lakshmi has experienced some "turbulence" with her daughter.

The 55-year-old TV star has a "good, open relationship" with her daughter, Krishna, 15 - but she admits that it hasn't always been so easy.

She told People: "I mean, the truth is, teens are changing and evolving, their personality is literally day-to-day. And so she'll go to her dad's and come back, and I'm like, 'You're a different person.'"

Padma and Krishna have experienced their fair share of ups and downs over the years - but they're now able to look back on some of their disagreements and laugh about them.

Padma shared: "Yesterday we were hanging out, and I was actually teasing her. I said, 'Remember two years ago when you said this thing, and you were really frustrated about it? And we had so many conversations, and I just said, 'Wait, you'll thank me later, you'll see what I mean.' And you were just fighting me. And look, today!'

"And she laughed and she goes, 'Yeah, you don't have to throw that in my face.'"

Despite this, Padma acknowledges that she doesn't always know best.

She said: "I'm not always right, but I have been there before, so I don't have any interest except her flourishing and her well-being.

"I mean, I remember being a teen, and the last thing you want to do is listen to your parents.

"But I mean, we have a good relationship. It's not without its turbulence, but we're very frank with each other, and we have a good, open relationship, which I hope continues."

Meanwhile, Padma previously claimed that women "shouldn't be afraid of ageing".

The TV star observed that life just gets "better and better and better" over time, and that people needn't fear ageing.

Padma told People: "I'm here to tell younger women that you shouldn't be afraid of ageing. You shouldn't be afraid that time is running out.

"You should know that it just gets better and better and better because you learn from life. You become experienced."
