One of Diana Keaton‘s closest friends spoke out on the late Academy Award-winning actress’ final days before her death at age 79.

Carol Bayer Sager, the Grammy and Oscar-winning songwriter, shared details about the last time she saw the “Annie Hall” star alive, a few weeks ago.

“She was very thin,” she exclusively told People magazine, adding that she was surprised by her friend’s physical appearance. “She had lost so much weight.”

Sayer, who co-wrote Keaton’s song “First Christmas,” also said she’d seen her less frequently this year, as Keaton had spent more time in Palm Springs after her longtime Los Angeles home sustained damage in the California wildfires.

“She was down there for a while, and when she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she’d lost,” she shared.

The “That’s What Friends Are For” lyricist also talked about the impact Keaton made on people.

“She was a magic light for everyone,” Sayer said. “I just loved her. She was so special, she just lit up a room with her energy. She was happy and upbeat and taking photographs of everything she saw.”

She described the Los Angeles native as “completely creative; she never stopped creating.”

Keaton, who also starred in “First Wives Club,” “Father of the Bride” and the “Book Club” franchise, is survived by two children she adopted in her 50s.

The cause of her death has not been made public.
