Marlon Wayans wants to "be like Prince" in the comedy sphere.

The 53-year-old star has already enjoyed huge success as an actor and as a stand-up comedian, but Marlon insists he still has lots of ambitions to achieve.

Asked about his career ambitions, Marlon told the Guardian newspaper: "Just trying to be the best artist I can be. Just be different. Just be Marlon.

"We're a bunch of snowflakes, but each is different. You don't find two alike. It's the same for artists.

"We're made through our experiences, our trials and tribulations. I've been blessed to learn how to write, produce, act, direct, do stand-up. I want to be like Prince, but with comedy, and one foot taller."

Marlon worked with Eddie Murphy on Norbit, the 2007 comedy movie, and he remembers the shoot as being one of the best experiences of his career.

He shared: "Working with Eddie was a dream. He's always been one of my idols. To do Norbit and make him laugh like I did, I'll never forget that moment. That was the first time I thought: I could be somebody in this industry."

Meanwhile, Marlon previously claimed that he "matured" during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The actor admitted that the global health crisis taught him to slow down and appreciate what's happened in his life.

Marlon - who starred in White Chicks and the Scary Movie franchises - told Total Film magazine: "COVID has given me [an off switch]. It's matured me at the right time.

"I used to have such FOMO and I found life in now having nothing to do.

"I found that I don't feel guilty about sleeping any more. I found that I could cook, I could clean. I could take care of myself. Things I didn't know how to do for myself."

Marlon admitted that the pandemic totally changed how he approaches his work.

He said: "I was a slave to my work. I felt like I always had to be 'on'. And it's OK to not be 'on' comedically."
