Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie set to square off in French winery trial
Published in Entertainment News
Fresh off the heels of their eight-year divorce battle, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are gearing up for a courtroom faceoff over their winery in the south of France.
Pitt, 61, anticipates the trial concerning Château Miraval will span 15 days, though its start date has not yet been set, according to court documents filed last Friday and obtained by Us Weekly.
The “F1” star and 50-year-old Jolie — once together known as “Brangelina” — purchased the $164 million Provence winery in 2008, six years before getting married on the property and eight years before separating in 2016.
Jolie hoped in the summer of 2021 to sell her stake in the winery, but Pitt sued her the following year for “vindictively” selling her shares to a Russian oligarch, in violation of their agreement that required Pitt’s approval.
In the wake of Jolie claiming that her ex was “looting” Château Miraval in an effort to devalue the property, the pair agreed in July 2023 to settle out of court. But things took a turn in 2024.
Roughly six weeks before the A-listers finalized their divorce in late December, a Los Angeles judge ruled in favor of Pitt’s bid to bring the winery case to trial. Us Weekly reported at the time that the trial might not even start until 2026.
Though the bitter divorce dragged on for years, Pitt and Jolie were declared legally single in 2019. Two years later, Pitt won joint custody of their five minor kids, though the tentative ruling did not apply to their son Maddox, who was 19 at the time. The custody agreement was ultimately tossed and now, only two of their children, 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, remain minors.
Daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, 19, successfully filed to remove the Pitt portion of her surname in May 2024, following in the footsteps of siblings Maddox, now 23, and Zahara, 20.
During his appearance on “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard” this week, Pitt opened up about entering Alcoholics Anonymous in the wake of Jolie filing for divorce.
