Television Q&A: Will 'Invasion' beam in for another season

You have questions. I have some answers.

Q: I just finished watching Season 2 of “Invasion” on Apple TV+. I thought it was a newly released season but realized that it was dated 2023. There was no conclusion to the story so I'm hoping there will be a Season 3. It was a very good show, and I was going to recommend it to friends and family. But if that was the end, I wouldn't have invested my time watching it.

A: That was not the end. Back in 2024, Apple TV+ ordered a third season of the science-fiction drama about an alien invasion seen from different perspectives, and it appears likely to air later this year. According to the streaming service, creator and executive producer Simon Kinberg said, “This new season will continue to build on the scale, stakes and propulsion of the ‘Invasion,’ while keeping our characters front and center, bringing them together in ways that will hopefully surprise and most importantly move our audience, who have been so incredibly supportive and inspiring since day one.”

Q: Over a year ago I read or heard that two former “NCIS” stars would film a show where their two original characters (Ziva and Tony) would be in a new show along with their daughter. What happened? Has this show been filmed or not?

A: What you heard about has been announced as “NCIS: Tony & Ziva,” with returners Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, airing on Paramount+ this fall. (While it is designed for the streaming service, no one should be surprised if the first episode airs on the CBS broadcast network to lure people to Paramount+.) According to the network, in the 10-episode series “Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.” CBS has been touting it to the main “NCIS” audience, including with an extended trailer during the original series’ season finale. You can also find the trailer on YouTube.

Q: “Doc,” a great show and one of the only shows I watch on Fox, has disappeared. Is it done?

A: No. You may have thought so since its first season was only 10 episodes airing earlier this year. But that run was such a success, Fox has ordered a second season which will contain 22 episodes.

Q: I just finished watching “Ocean’s Eleven,” “Twelve” and “Thirteen.” Any chance a “Fourteen” will be made?

A: Hard to tell. As you know, there was originally an “Ocean’s 11” in 1960, with Frank Sinatra and other members of the Rat Pack. That inspired the three films you watched, which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt and more. Following the three Clooney-Pitt movies was “Ocean’s 8,” a women-teamed caper led by Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, the sister of Clooney’s character.

And where does all that lead? Clooney told Uproxx.com in December 2023 that “We have a really good script for another 'Oceans' now, so we may end up doing another one,” adding that the script is like “Going in Style,” the twice-made movie about elderly men becoming bank robbers. That connects with an interview with the New York Times this year, where Clooney said that in a new “Ocean’s" movie, “It’s like we’re all too old to do the jobs we used to be able to do.” After all, their first “Ocean’” collaboration was almost 25 years ago. Two of the principals — Bernie Mac and Carl Reiner — have passed away. There’s been some speculation about “Ocean’s 8” stars joining the guys’ crew.

And there is reportedly a prequel in the works, with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
