Jessica Simpson’s camp has reportedly reached out to divorce attorneys regarding her marriage to Eric Johnson in recent months.

Though the fashion designer, 44, has not yet approached a lawyer herself, someone close to Simpson contacted a divorce lawyer in Los Angeles late last month, sources with direct knowledge told TMZ on Tuesday.

Another of Simpson’s associates reached out to a different L.A. attorney about “divorce-related” matters, though nothing has come of it yet, according to the outlet.

Speculation of a split hit a high on Monday when Simpson shared several snaps from an interview and teased new music.

“Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic,” Simpson captioned the Instagram carousel. “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”

Though Simpson did not explicitly mention whether she was referring to treatment in her marriage or by the public, younger sister Ashlee Simpson was asked to weigh in hours later.

“Is it true? Do you know?” TMZ asked the “Pieces of Me” singer, 40, about the possibility of her sister’s marriage being on its last leg.

Ashlee simply said, “No,” leaving the outlet to wonder whether she was shutting down the rumor or saying she had no knowledge of what was going on.

Back in April, Jessica posted a carousel of photos from a family vacation with the 45-year-old former NFL tight end and their three kids. Simpson’s wedding ring was notably absent in the snaps.

The couple tied the knot in 2014, after four years of dating. Together they share daughters Maxwell, 12, and Birdie, 5, as well as 11-year-old son Ace.

Prior to Johnson, Simpson was married to “Love Is Blind” co-host Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006, setting the stage for one of the earliest reality series, MTV’s “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica.”
