Police in Providence, Rhode Island, released new photos Wednesday of an individual they say they would like to speak to as they search for the person responsible for the deadly shooting at Brown University over the weekend.

“Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying and speaking to the individual shown in these photos, who was in proximity of the person of interest,” a Providence police spokesperson said.

The still images show a person wearing dark pants and a light hoodie underneath a blue jacket.

The person is seen walking through someone’s yard, carrying what appears to be a canvas tote bag. The person appears to be in the area around Brown’s campus and in places where the person of interest was seen just before the shooting took place.

“They may have relevant information to the investigation,” Providence police Chief Oscar Perez said about the new person in the photo at a Wednesday press conference.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the tip line at (401) 272-3121, police said.

Law enforcement also published a map of Providence’s East Side with a perimeter drawn around the area the suspected shooter was seen. Police asked that anyone with a camera in the outlined area please come forward and share the footage with them.

The new photos come a day after law enforcement published video of a person of interest in the case. The compiled footage was spliced with maps showing the suspect’s route through College Hill before and after Saturday’s shooting.

The suspect was wearing dark clothing, a black and green jacket, black beanie, and black mask. In some instances, he could be seen wearing a satchel, and in others, the bag is gone. At times, the suspect strolls through a neighborhood right next to Brown’s open campus, and in one clip, he can be seen running through the frame.

When asked about if the new person may have caused the suspect to run, Perez said that they were still investigating. “I wish those videos could speak,” he said.

Police believe the person of interest is the shooter who killed two students and injured nine others at an introductory economics study session Saturday afternoon.

So far, police have detained and let go one person of interest, who they already cleared of wrongdoing.

In addition to discussing the newly released photos, officials also responded to questions about why more surveillance footage from Brown hadn’t been released.

Brown University Provost Francis Doyle said that Brown had 1,200 camera on campus and that all material had been turned over to law enforcement.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said they hadn’t released the footage from inside the building where the shooting took place because it wouldn’t be useful to the investigation.

“Footage of students running doesn’t help advance identifying this person,” he said.

Many students have already left campus, with classes and exams canceled in the wake of the tragedy. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley said police presence has been increased throughout the city and campus while a suspect is still at large.
