One of the Delta jets involved in a low-speed collision on Wednesday evening at LaGuardia Airport in New York had arrived from Charlotte, North Carolina.
The wing of an Endeavor aircraft leaving for Roanoke, Virginia, hit the fuselage of the plane arriving from Charlotte as both were taxiing at 9 p.m., a statement from Delta said.
“Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi,” a Delta spokesperson said in an email. “Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”
Delta said the flights were operated by Endeavor Air, a subsidiary of Delta Air Line.
The flight from Charlotte had two pilots, two flight attendants, and 57 passengers on board, Delta said. The flight leaving for Virginia had two pilots, two flight attendants, and 28 passengers on board.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said one person suffered non-life threatening injures in the collision. Delta said it was a flight attendant. No other injuries were reported.
Customers were taken back to the terminal by bus after the collision, Delta said.
